The Land that the brewery is on has been in my family since the early 1980’s (read 1981ish). It was a pig farm, chicken farm, and cattle land.
Brett is the owner of 16 Mile. He wanted to bring a small business back to his hometown after spending the better part of 10 years working in Washington, DC. He enjoys the creativity behind crafting the beers we make and innovation behind bringing stories to life.
Favorite Beer: Amber Sun Ale
Heather Snyder is a local through and through. She grew up on a farm where she raised pigs, chickens, and grew cantaloupes and watermelon. She knew 16 Mile was her home because the company uses local ingredients to make beers like the Seed Free & Joy Watermelon Ale and Delaware Oyster Stout and is frequently involved in local events. She is 16 Mile’s most knowledgeable employee as she was the second employee added in 2011. Heather returns to her roots every spring when she heads the 16 Mile Farmer’s Market each season. When she’s not at work you can find her baking or cooking artistic, delectable treats for her friends and family. Heather’s mantra is, “Where there’s a whisk, there’s a way.”

Born and raised is Sussex County, DE. His specialty is ten-fold as he maintains a safe and clean brewery and is somehow able to fix anything we break. After many years in the construction industry, specializing in carpentry craftsmanship, he transitioned to a different crafting trade; brewing good beer! You can catch him on the front end of the brewing process and running all brewery operations.
